I have been a believer in understanding personality types and having those in my organization having the same understanding since 1988. At that time, as CEO of a small medical device start-up, my company had some rough edges and not everyone felt appreciated for what they contributed. I brought in an organizational psychologist who immediately introduced us to the Myers-Briggs approach. Everyone participated in learning their personality type and that of co-workers.

This simple tool created a sea-change in attitudes within our company. Once everyone understood the other's uniqueness, there was greater teamwork, collaboration, and humor. I have used Myers-Briggs ever since and strongly recommend it as an organizational development tool.

It is also a great tool for those married or in relationships as it again provides great insights into the "other" and contributes to greater intimacy.
