Jeremy, who longs to have the black high tops that everyone at school seems to have but his grandmother cannot afford, is excited when he sees them for sale in a thrift shop and decides to buy them even though they are the wrong size.

Sammendrag: All Jeremy wants is a pair of those shoes, the shoes everyone at school seems to be wearing. But his grandma tells him they don't have any room for "want," just "need," and what Jeremy needs are new boots for winter. In this warm and very real story, a young boy realizes that the things he has—warm boots, a loving grandmother, and a good friend—are worth more than the things he wants.
